Evening Prayer

Scripture: By awesome deeds you answer us with righteousness, O God of our salvation, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas; the one who by his strength established the mountains, being girded with might; who stills the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, the tumult of the peoples, so that those who dwell at the ends of the earth are in awe at your signs. You make the going out of the morning and the evening to shout for joy! (Psalms 65:5-8)

The God of heaven and earth is the hope of the nations. No matter what culture you’re from or what country you live in, whether you’re a land-dweller or a sea-faring people—God is your hope. The gospel tears down the walls that divide us by nature and seeks to found a people on a whole new basis—the love of his Son.

Prayer: Lord, we pray that you would reveal the beauty of the gospel in uniting people that have little in common. Tear down the walls that divide people in our city and across the world. Teach us to delight in the vast array of cultures and people that you have created and to enjoy one another in the Lord. Amen.
